Episode 8 of the WIND BREAKER anime series, titled "Succeeding the Past" (思おもいを継ついで, Omoi o Tsuide), officially aired on May 23, 2024.
It is the eighth episode of the first season and is animated by CloverWorks.
The episode centers heavily on the climax of the brutal yet emotionally revealing fight between Haruka Sakura and Jo Togame during Bofurin's turf war with Shishitoren.
Summary of Key Events
The Backstory Revealed: The episode dives into Togame’s history with Shishitoren's leader, Choji Tomiyama. Originally, they weren't malicious, but Choji grew bored and frustrated when teammates became too reliant on him. To protect Choji and fulfill his wish for a hyper-strong group, Togame took on the role of the "bad guy," systematically weeding out any weak members from their gang.
The Climax of the Fight: In the present, Sakura pushes Togame to stop holding back. Through their intense combat, Sakura essentially speaks to Togame's core values, forcing him to realize how much Shishitoren has lost its original joy. By the end of the bout, they develop a profound mutual respect.
Choji's Betrayal: Upon seeing Togame's perspective shift and subsequent loss, Choji responds with total apathy and aggression, kicking his own second-in-command aside. This infuriates Sakura and sets up the final confrontation between Choji and Bofurin's leader, Hajime Umemiya
Generally only 10-30 scripts of each episode exist. These aren't for public sale and occasionally get sneaked out or given at very selected conventions in Japan, I'm keeping 1 for my own collection so get it while you can.
These were used by the voice actors in the studio in Japan. These are not copies or look alikes.
