"Mamoru and Usagi's Babysitting Mayhem" is the 53rd episode overall of the Sailor Moon anime series. It serves as the 7th episode of Sailor Moon R (Season 2) and belongs to the anime-only Makaiju (Doom Tree) arc.
📝 Key Episode Details
- Japanese Title: "Mamoru and Usagi's Babysitting Mayhem" (衛とうさぎのベビーシッター騒動)
- DiC English Dub Title: "A's Same Old Brand New Product" / "Darien's Baby Sitting"
- Core Themes: Comedy, slice-of-life, romance development, and amnesia struggles.
🎬 Plot Synopsis
- The Alien Plot: Ail and An decide to target the fresh, pure energy of infants to feed their dying Makaiju tree. They send a Cardian monster named Amaderasu to strike a local daycare.
- The Injury: During the chaotic monster attack, a mother named Saeko is injured and rushed to the hospital.
- The Babysitting Pact: Her infant son, Manami, is left with no one to look after him. Mamoru Chiba steps up and agrees to take care of the baby. Eager to spend time with her amnesiac love interest, Usagi Tsukino insists on helping him.
- The Mayhem: Usagi and Mamoru struggle completely with the realities of child-rearing, leading to classic comedic gags involving diaper changes and bottle feeding.
- The Battle: The Cardian returns to claim the rest of the babies' energy. Ami Mizuno (Sailor Mercury) intercepts the threat out of pure anger for the infants, using her Shabon Spray Freezing ability. Sailor Moon eventually destroys the Cardian, and the infant is safely reunited with his recovered mother.
💡 Production Notes
- Character Development: This episode highlights Usagi's determination to stay close to Mamoru, who still lacks his past-life memories of being Tuxedo Mask.
- Attack Variations: The episode features iconic early Season 2 moves, including Sailor Mercury's frozen vapor tactics.
Generally only 10-30 scripts of each episode exist. These aren't for public sale and occasionally get sneaked out or given at very selected conventions in Japan, I'm keeping 1 for my own collection so get it while you can.
These were used by the voice actors in the studio in Japan. These are not copies or look alikes.
