What you should know: Princess Knight is one of the foundation works of shojo or "girls' comics", depicting the fairy-tale adventures of Sapphire, a princess born with both a male and female soul.

Based on the 'Nakayoshi' version, a remake of the original Princess Knight, this edition was put out in 2001 by Kodansha, in an excellent bilingual Japanese/English format. Only available in Japan, this edition was designed primarily to be used as a study tool. However, given that it was an English-language release of Princess Knight that predates theVertical Inc. edition by a decade, it was once extremely sought- after by Tezuka fans.
