Episode 9 of the 2003 Astro Boy Japanese anime series is titled "Franken" (フランケン). It originally aired in Japan on June 1, 2003, produced by Tezuka Productions and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Plot Summary
  • Illegal Dumping: Deceitful collection traders illegally dump broken, scrap robots deep into a mountain valley. [1]
  • A Mysterious Monster: A malfunctioning, heavily damaged robot named Al starts hunting for scrap parts in the area to rebuild his own systems. [1, 2]
  • The Misunderstood Threat: Al's auto-repairing circuitry merges random parts together, unintentionally making him look like a terrifying, vicious monster. [1]
  • Police Retaliation: Fearing a dangerous threat, the police target the robot for total destruction. [1]
  • The Real Story: Astro Boy discovers that Al is actually a missing household companion and protector robot who was stolen by a robo-theft ring, stripped for parts, and abandoned. [1]
  • Astro's Mission: Astro must race against time to stop the police attack and safely reunite Al with his original six-year-old master, Jack Fuller. [1, 2]
English Dub Differences
  • Title Match: Unlike many episodes in the 2003 series which were re-ordered or heavily altered for international markets, this episode kept the title "Franken" in the English version. [1, 2, 3]
  • Episode Number Shift: While it is Episode 9 in the original Japanese broadcast, it was aired as Episode 5 in the United States and western regions due to a altered syndication order

Generally only 10-30 scripts  each episode exist. These aren't for public sale and occasionally get sneaked out or given at very selected conventions in Japan, I'm keeping 1 for my own collection so get it while you can.

These were used by the voice actors in the studio in Japan. These are not copies or look alikes.
