Space Warrior Baldios (Uchū Senshi Barudiosu) is a classic 1980 Japanese super robot mecha anime series produced by Ashi Productions and Kokusai Eiga-sha. Famous for its unusually dark, environmentally driven sci-fi narrative and a shocking time-paradox twist, the series holds a major cult classic status among mecha fans worldwide.
Core Plot & Environmental Theme
The story takes place in the year 2100. A distant civilization on Planet S-1 is dying due to extreme nuclear radiation. Rather than utilizing technology to clean up their home, a ruthless military faction led by Fuhrer Gattler assassinates their Emperor and chooses to invade a clean, prosperous planet they discovered: Earth. Our protagonist, Marin Reigan, is a young pilot from S-1 who opposes the invasion. After fleeing through a wormhole, he arrives on Earth. Though initial suspicions paint him as a spy, Marin eventually teams up with Earth's defensive military group, the "Blue Fixers". He pilots his advanced S-1 craft to combine with Earth vehicles, forming the colossal combat robot Baldios to defend his new home. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Television Cancellation & The 1981 Movie
The original television series premiered on June 30, 1980, but faced unexpected cancellation, abruptly ending on January 25, 1981, after only 34 episodes—just as its plot reached a massive climax. [1, 2, 3, 4]
To properly finish the story, a feature-length animated film distributed by the Toei Company was released on December 19, 1981. The movie brilliantly integrated footage from the television series alongside highly explicit, newly animated sequences. It allowed the creators to deliver their intended, devastating ending where the catastrophic consequences of war culminate in the melting of Earth's polar ice caps and a tragic final battle. [1, 2]
These were used by the voice actors in the studio in Japan. These are not copies or look alikes.
Generally only 10-30 scripts of each episode exist. These aren't for public sale and occasionally get sneaked out or given at very selected conventions in Japan, I'm keeping 1 for my own collection so get it while you can.
Any problems that seem particularly severe (such as bends, dents, wavy, sticking to videos or backgrounds, etc.) will be noted in the special notes , but please take a good look at the images to judge the condition before purchase. All Cels/Genga/Douga/Illustrations came from Japan.Please be aware some photography may show reflections from the protective packaging.
